It's a right associated with being alive, like breathing; something directly necessary for survival (supply of food is similar in situation and should never have been commercialised to the extent that is has due to reduction in the quality of life for the majority populating the planet in favour of a few).

There is currently a worldwide water crisis. One in six people don't have access to clean drinking water. Corporations like Suez are implementing "water cards" (pre-paid water???) in third world countries and Coca-Cola is one of the major players responsible for this crisis through its cloaked policy of "rape the earth for profit and brush it under the carpet".

The fact is, companies producing bottled water and all manner of carbonated beverages like Coca-Cola are scamming western nations, exploiting third world countries and causing a worldwide water shortage under cover of "global warming" (post on global warming coming).

...and again, we're lapping it up

Coca-Cola corporation are committing documented human rights abuses in several countries, two of which are India and Columbia. The corporation is sucking (along with many other international corporations) ground water from village water-tables, bottling it, selling it to us and have clocked up over one hundred and seventy human rights violations in Columbia alone.

Coke has pledged to conserve water by 2010 but it's an obvious public relations cover-up. Why not do it now considering the current statistics that one in six people in the world don't have access to clean drinking water? Why wait until then, when all the water has run out?

A powerful, right winged military group, the AUC Black Eagles has popped up in Colombia within the last ten years, from nowhere, with a mission. The group has killed nine men working for Coca-Cola in FEMSA which owns the Columbian bottling plant, specifically because those men had belonged to a union.

Yes, it seems Columbia has become a dangerous place for trade unionists over the last decade and is over-run by right wing paramilitary groups who murder approximately two hundred (200) people per year that belong to or are related to trade unions (you know...spouses, entire families, friends, acquaintances; anyone who opposes them...that sort of thing)

According to DISPATCHES - Mark Thomas on Coca-Cola; "in 2004 a New York city councillor led a fact finding delegation to Columbia. It found that workers for the Coca-Cola bottler were victims of at least one hundred and seventy nine (179) human rights violations and nine murders" including one man who was shot dead INSIDE the Coca-Cola plant.

The report found "the physical access that paramilitaries have had to Coca-Cola bottling plants is impossible without company knowledge, and/or tacit approval.

Coca-Cola's inaction, and its ongoing refusal to take any responsibility for the human rights crisis faced by its workforce in Columbia demonstrates at best, disregard for the lives of its workers."

...two Columbian judicial enquiries found no evidence of collusion by the bottler management to intimidate or threaten trade unionists. Riiiiiiiight!!! it's all just coincidental

Tim Beaty, director of Global Strategies, Teamster Union (represents 30,000 Coke workers) states that "Coke attempts to separate any responsibility it has from the behaviour of its bottlers and other subsidiaries. Inside the system Coca-Cola company was saying, hey we've got nothing to do with this, this is a bottler and their totally responsible and we don't have any control or responsibility".

We were able to say no wait a minute, there is a linkage between what the Coca-Cola company does in Atlanta and what its bottlers do around the country and around the world".

... as if Coke has no control over the situation! It's fairly common knowledge that corporations like Coke who trade in over two hundred (200) countries around the world and are among the largest on the planet...have more power and influence than "that".

Is the "truth" of information such as this consistently slipping through cracks in our media networks, indicative that "something is very, very wrong" within society? why do we accept that it is, what it is? have we no imaginations, to dream of a better future for all?

Over 45 universities have kicked Coke off campus, including Sussex, Manchester and four colleges from Oxford University.

I met Bill Hicks during his first tour of Australia years ago (awesome collection of unpublished shots somewhere, maybe a future post) working as his photographer to document one of his shows. We hit it off pretty much immediately, a like connection. He was very generous, let me have run of the house and shared any hospitality provided to him . I shot the entire show that first night and was subsequently invited back by Bill for the remainder of the week without him having seen any of the work, to shoot the remaining shows.

...insightful, wise, hilarious, in touch; such awareness from a really "human" view

Amazing guy! Every show like the first one; energetic, charismatic, poignant and laugh until you can't breath funny. It was quite difficult shooting at some points due to laughter in fact, mine. So much to this man, the way he saw life. A profundity and awareness unlike many others. Born in an awakened state, dealing with it creatively. I had no idea who he was at the time, had never heard of him before the shoot and not really again until years later when some friends were talking about him and I overheard that he had passed away.

...evidently in between, he rocked the world

Asking what had happened I relayed my adventures of that week and was told that he had developed over the years a massive world wide following of almost cult proportions and that he was really famous.

It figured, larger than life presence, kind and super funny. I feel very privileged, had an awesome time and laughed my guts out for five days straight but somehow I assumed all of his work was primarily focused on politics, religion, imbecile presidents, that sort of thing.

fear2love blog exists, to discover, present and explore information of exactly this nature which somehow always slips through mainstream cracks. It is these cracks in our information networks which are distorting evolution and perpetuating violence in the species; I have a theory.

We all know something is wrong, we always have. A feeling from birth which is suppressed for reasons of compliance from within the group. We develop different means, distractions, for dealing with the intangibility and difficulty of this sensation. Some people are conscious of it and find methods to face the fear however most are forced to tune out because traditionally there are no tools acceptable for use in western society which deal with it effectively.

The concept of looking into the self is not new. Buddhism is thought to have originated in India some 560 years or so (2500 years + ago) before Christ according to history books and we've all heard the saying which expresses concisely it's main premise, however the majority of westerners consistently ignore or miss it's meaning.

I have completed several articles lately around the G20 summit protests in London which began based on information provided by commercial sources that initiated other notions within me to write on. However, all these sources have suggested violence at the protests began as a result of "masked hooligans" entering the mass behaving aggressively, and while this may have been true to an extent, it certainly wasn't the only instigator of the violence.

it seems that the person who died at the G20 protests in London yesterday may not have been part of the rally after all and indeed may have just been trying to get out of the area and home from work.

...how sad is that? a victim of fear expressed as anger?

Individuals who were not involved, are now involved, there is no escaping it. The issue is too important, people concerned are not going to let it be brushed away by media propaganda or those regurgitating government hype. The fear of "what is to come" via deceitful activities perpetrated by corporations and governments is too much to bear and traditionally there has been only one way seen out of this type of human dilemma, revolution. Protest like this represents exactly that, mini revolutions and while unfortunate, are the only way we've learnt to do it. Ultimately though change must come from within, there is no escaping this fact.

...again people have let fear control their actions rather than love.

There are many ways to make others take notice of an action without resorting to violence against people. One is property damage, another vigilance. What if protesters had taken one one of the bank buildings in a destructive rampage instead of attempting to confront authority directly. What if violence against police (who are doing as instructed) was directed instead at inanimate objects of those responsible, i.e banks?

...think it would have made just as much noise? without the stigma of human casualty and violence associated with it?

The international press went loopy at the property destruction. Like dogs to water in a desert...they lapped it up. Check out these images. Specifically ones involving smashing the building window. How many cameras are poised to take a shot? Insane? Ridiculous? It's so bizarre that it almost looks set up, like they were told in advance to get there, as if they actually asked for something else to be thrown through. Can you imagine them sprinting to get that shot, to be there? Can you imagine one of them yelling "throw something else, we'll make you famous" ???? (subject for another post) Ohhhh yeah!!!

...stunning photographs, but what else do they say?

Do images like these speak of the power credited to property damage in making headlines? Does it present a future direction for ineffectual peaceful protests that get taken over by violent outsiders with ulterior motives?

There is all manner of information online related to freedom, protesting and activism. One such individual worth mentioning is John Zerzan, controversial philosopher whose call for property damage has inspired many to take to the streets. ”That is not violence. Sitting there doing dope and watching MTV . Then you go and get a job. Just schlep along. To me that is violence,” says Zerzan.

...some clarification: Peaceful protesting is not wrong, it just doesn't work any more and here's why; peaceful protest won't be effectual until those attending realise their obligation to keep these events "peaceful"

and it is their duty, no one else's; not the police, not the government, not the guy next door. It's the responsibility of everyone attending who feels strongly about "peaceful protesting" and the issues at hand to ensure it remains peaceful and effective; here's the bit they just don't seem to get.

...if "that" means becoming violent to keep it peaceful, THEN IT HAS TO BE DONE! A decision has to be made, is it important or not?

Using violence to ensure peace internally? It's the same thing tribal groups all over the world do to ensure honesty. i.e. Koorie example, Australia: spear in the leg of someone who steals from the tribe (doesn't have to be this harsh of course). Simply holding down offenders until police get there would suffice. It's so simple and humanly possible, something we are all programmed to do but not aware we can. All that need happen is for people to unite, before the protest action with defined knowledge of this required support. This in and of itself would deter anyone intent on misdirecting perception of the actual cause.

...35,000 people or more turning against them at the first sign of an outbreak of violence? Noooo, that wouldn't work...would it? ...should peaceful actions utilise directed violence to ensure intent when necessary?

They have to, it's the only way they can work and while I am in general an advocate of peace and non-violence, something has to give. It simply doesn't work and hasn't ever since violence first crept in to discredit groups and the objectives of these protests. Real action is needed, not pseudo attempts which repeatedly do nothing but deter others from joining important, life changing causes. Is there a realisation yet, after all the examples we've had over the years, that attacking police or authority figures does nothing to further any issue supported in the eyes of the rest of the world and doesn't effect change? No one, nobody in the protest, in any protest; ever does anything to stop these conspirator worms from causing this type of violence and discrediting the cause. Everone laps it up like a movie, 'yeah violence against the system!!" and joins in (group think). If anything THIS should make people angry and want to be violent, to stop the meaning being hijacked by these imbecile antagonists.

...when will we wake up and change tactics?

...there ARE many more!

Personal feeling is that we know exactly what is required yet are confronted by the same concept. That "we" need to be vigilant in prevention of violence at peaceful protests, that it is "our" responsibility and that it might mean "we" have to risk personal safety (which we're doing anyway just being there in the current circumstances). Disseminating instruction such as directives for group behaviour in case of violence before hand can change things.

...so here's what I recommend

Next time a peaceful protest is organised, those responsible for conception should ensure that all attending know unequivocably, that violence of any kind will not be tolerated and will be stopped by force if necessary, through the intense power and intervention of the entire mass.

If issues like this are to mean anything at all , those involved need to be prepared to "kick the crap out of anyone" who tries to change the focus, not the police. The main reason nothing happens as a result of these types of mass protest is because of violence to persons associated with them and what that does to fence sitters and others who would normally be involved, which is the majority of the population.

...stop fighting each other through attacking authority and begin to see, there are so many other ways.

This is only a minor example of what could be done to facilitate more meaningful and peaceful protest given the current climate. Other, more fear2love style examples of protest such as 50,000 people chaining themselves to each other around the city, mass hunger strikes, uniting in consumer onslaughts of corporations responsible by boycotting products would be preferable...the list goes on, unite in creativity.

...what does it really come down to? the perception of sacrifice? how much is your remote control and tv worth to you? what will the future be like because of what you do now? what we do in the present forms the future! for all of us (subject for another post)

G20 protests: a resounding NO -> slavery

Well it seems as though some people don’t want corporations and banks walking over them after all. SBS television Australia reported tonight (other major networks also briefly) of rioting in the streets of London as G20 protesters united in this global cause.

...YESS!!!

SBS stated the protest was marred by violence which occurred when a group of men in hoodies with “faces covered” moved quickly to the front of the crowd and attacked police, setting the rest of the protesters off as police retaliated in defence.

Yawn! This is NOTHING new. There is footage freely available online of similarly dressed thugs jumping from the “police side of the barrier” at another G8 summit (suggesting they were undercover units) into the mass of people protesting and working their way to the front to perpetrate similar violence for the same purposes. Here too in Australia, a few years ago at the G8 summit (essentially same thing as G20) there was conflict between police and protesters which began as a result of hooded, “masked” thugs that attacked police via whatever means. ..so cliché, “hooded, masked thugs”

...it’s hard not to get “caught up in the hype”, it’s so prolific

In the current socio-economic conditions we live in this sort of violence occurs about every time a group of people have a valid reason to protest which might affect fortune 500 or arms manufacturers. It's to discredit an otherwise normal, justifiable expression of a group of people’s anger when the remainder of the nation might notice or worse still...do something about it.

It works because the majority of the population abhor violence (as they should) and incidents such as this serve to keep those people out of the fight. The cause conflicts morally with embedded notions of violence, becomes tainted and people are susceptible to propaganda, hype and will often reject an otherwise beneficial cause due to this conflict of values.

It’s what we bring to movies/books, in our minds, so we can believe wild and far out stories. In our “real” day to day lives, we should do the opposite and use extremes of love, rationale and logic to determine truth in events such as these.

• look at effects to see causes (ask: what effect does it have – who benefits most)
• do we really think this fanciful schmultz only happens in films?
• if you don’t look, you can’t see

Apart from the perceived property damage and a few fractured skulls though, someone actually died during these London protests. ???? Yes a pretty big downside and absolute tragedy for the family and friends of this individual along with everyone attending, but in reality...nothing compared to the damage and death corporations pushing globalisation and G20 summits are doing every day in third world countries.

I’m going to say it again because it sounds ridiculous, like a movie...someone “died” at a world rally in London when a major protest over workers rights and the push for a global economy became violent. Is this the next push? Not merely violence to dissuade, but death? A victim of the movies?

It matters not, he died in a fight helping the whole of humanity, it was not in vain. We are one voice, one people, one earth, one mind connected in universal consciousness.
